Monijara

Monijara (Monica Jaramillo) is a Colombian American artist with a career that spans twenty years and includes group and solo shows in the US and Colombia.

Her work is multifaceted, reflecting her dialogue with the world and her experiences through her travels. Her inspirations span nature and the arts to technical fields such as artificial intelligence and big data, with women as a central focus of her practice.

She makes decorative drawings stemming from her interest in design and architecture, as well as primary acrylic paintings in large formats on free canvas, and explores additional mediums including fashion, jewelry, tapestry and glass. Her work was featured in an experimental documentary film directed by David De Hannay, founder of NYC Art Group.
